The Dutch government is set to change the way border controls are carried out at the frontiers with Belgium and Germany. Existing temporary internal border checks will be extended once more, until no later than 30 September 2026, while the cabinet simultaneously prepares a shift towards a more permanent and less visible form of oversight. The plans were outlined by Minister for Asylum and Migration Bart van den Brink (CDA).
